The American Kennel Club held its European Open Team Tryouts on December 4th and 5th to select the teams that will represent the USA in July 2022 at the European Open in Belgium. Tryouts consisted of 4 rounds: two standard and two jumpers. There were 208 dogs entered in the tryouts event over three height classes and 8 Large, 6 Medium, and 6 Small team members were automatically selected based on the results of this event.
Bad Dog Agility Instructor and Podcast Co-Host Jennifer Crank competed with sheltie Bee, putting in the only 4-clean-run performance at the event, winning two rounds, getting 2nd in two rounds en route to earning her spot on the 2022 team.
Bee is just 2 years old and is a Swift daughter. Jennifer Crank and Swift competed at the FCI Agility World Championship in Sweden in 2018 and won the silver individual medal in the medium height class. Swift also won ALL FOUR tryouts rounds in 2019 earning a spot on the Agility World Championship team that competed in Finland. Jennifer is the only U.S. handler in history to have won 3 individual medals at this event.
