The Bad Dog Agility Weekly for November 15, 2017

News, commentary, and training tips for the dog agility enthusiast.

Welcome to the BDA Weekly! We’re making preparations for a big Thanksgiving in Texas this year with everyone on both sides of the family flying and driving in for turkey, movies, football, and an absurd amount of pie. And dog agility, because our family can’t wait to hear us talk about dog agility again…

U.S. Open

The 2017 UKI U.S. Open took place this past weekend in Jacksonville, Florida and our sponsored athlete Jennifer Crank had a superhero weekend, winning multiple events and earning the Team USA Super Win-On Spot in 16” with her sheltie Swift and in 20” with her border collie P!nk. Winning the Super Win-On Spot (I did not make that up) means Jennifer has won entry into all three of the WAO individual events (Biathlon, Games and Individual Pentathlon) for both dogs for the World Agility Open Championships which will be held in May 2018 in Ermelo, Netherlands.

Jennifer made the hard choice to use her Super Win-On Spots to join Team USA instead of the Justice League.

Watch the video below to see Jennifer and P!nk run the fastest time in all heights on the Masters Final Agility course. Jennifer swears P!nk made a major error on course–extra Thanksgiving pie for you if you can find it!

Try not to confuse P!nk the border collie with P!nk the Grammy Award winning singer.

According to Jennifer, the courses at the U.S. Open were “VERY big” and she was proud of her dogs’ performances. For those of you who couldn’t find Jennifer and P!nk’s error, take a look at the course map below and tell me which way you’d like to take your dog over #10.

That’ll do it for this week. In the next few days, we’ll have some cool exercises for you based on the handling decisions at jump #7, so keep one eye on the turkey and the other on our Facebook page.
